The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) caucus in the House of Representatives, on Tuesday constituted a 13-member ad hoc committee to examine current political crisis in the party.
The committee headed by Rep. Patrick Asadu (Enugu-PDP) is expected to review the lingering crisis in the party, especially the various peace efforts by genuine leaders of the party.
The committee was also mandated to recommend, for consideration of the caucus, the way forward in all efforts to ensure unity, coherence and acceptance of new members into the party.
A leader of the caucus and Minority Leader of the House, Rep. Leo Ogor, said that he was confident that the committee had the capability to carry out the task.
“We are on a journey of salvaging Nigeria, please do all you can to help this country,” Ogor said.
Accepting the responsibility, Asadu assured that all efforts would be geared towards delivering the committee’s mandate.
Members of the committee are Toby Okechukwu, Tajudeen Yusuf, Rimande Shawulu, Nkiruka Onyejeocha and Kingsley Chinda.
Others are Akinlaja Joseph, Joan Mrakpor, Okwu Samson, Ben Nwankwo, Simon Arabor, Sunday Marshal and Ali Isa.
The committee is expected to report back to the group in two weeks. (NAN)
